New School Year Starts in July
The reopening of schools in Kenya was a blessing for many of our students. However, this was not an indication of a return to normal learning. Many parents and students are grappling with a different learning system that shifted from January-November to July 2021-March 2022.
In the previous academic year that ended, 37 students from Grade 2 graduated from Hands of Love and have transitioned to public schools in the local community. This is usually a happy-sad occasion for the teachers, parents and students. Nonetheless, our teachers, parents and students are always looking forward to these graduation ceremonies which showcases their sense of achievement and pride. It is also a time when our students celebrate the success of each other. We wish them all the best as they transition to their new schools.
With the new school year at hand, we are always happy to take in more students as was the case in July when 36 new students joined our school community. These students come from struggling families hence the parents look to Hands of Love which not only provides a learning opportunity but a second home where the students can get nutrition and health support. We joyfully welcome our new students and parents to our school community.
